Find out more!

Tracing the roots and routes of Black music-making in Britain, this landmark exhibition explores Black British music over the past 125 years. From lovers rock and Brit funk to jungle and grime, V&A East reveals the creation of Black music genres in Britain and how they have shaped culture and identity across the country.

As well as editing and proofreading, my responsibilities ranged from designing a text hierarchy and advising curators on interpretive writing to advocating for accessibility in design feedback. I also worked on integrating interpretive text with a sound experience delivered to visitors via headphones.

Editorial breakdown:
• More than 20,000 words
• Over 320 object labels
• Around 250 songs
• 7 films
• At least 3 changes of heart on capitalising music genres
• And countless new songs added to my playlists

Photos to come once the exhibition opens on 18 April 2026!
