V&A East Storehouse offers an 'access-all-areas experience of the V&A collection', taking visitors behind the scenes of a working museum store with over 250,000 objects.
I led the text interpretation, implementing an approach that reflects Storehouse's ethos of transparency. Co-writing labels with staff across the museum, audiences and community groups allows the space to platform multiple voices and perspectives, with all authors named on labels. Working closely with curators, I developed a templated interpretation system allowing quick, easy updates to keep pace with a working museum space. I integrated text alongside a digital database and QR code system to support the experience.
Editorial breakdown:
• Object labels for over 120 displays
• Digital labels for over 1,000 objects
• More than 50 co-writers so far
• 6 large-scale installations
• 7 audio and film points
• 3 visitor feedback stations
• 1 guidebook per floor
• And countless explanations to my friends and family about what a Storehouse is!
